Our curriculum is based on the belief that children aged 3-5 years learn best in an unstructured environment where play is the main learning tool. Our program follows the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines and uses the C&K Listening and Learning Together curriculum approach for implementation. This sits alongside EYLF (Early Years Learning Framework) – the national early learning framework.
It is considered an emergent curriculum – a partnership between family, children and staff. Our Centre really supports the philosophy behind BW and the EYLF where children are seen as competent, capable enquirers, thinkers, researchers, communicators and decision makers with the ability to be active negotiators in their own learning.
In December, 2009 the Council of Australian Governments agreed to establish a National Quality Framework (NQF) for early childhood education and care. In January 2011 the NQF introduced a new quality assessment and rating system for services and a new National Quality Standard (NQS) embedded in national law. It focusses on 7 quality areas:
The assessment of our program gave us a rating of EXCEEDING NATIONAL QUALITY STANDARDS on each of the 7 areas – the highest rating that could be achieved on each area.
